When you see a position in the press or online the location of this job always needs to be taken into consideration, you need to work out travel costs and time needed to and from work, so right away you are limiting yourself to what position you can apply for. The same can be said about working from home or telecommuting, if you the whole world as your neighborhood, then the small amount of “Real” jobs available do actually mount up.
What sort of work can you do from home? Surprisingly there quite a few jobs that can be done from
home, these include Internet related positions such as web design & seo, writing, phone call handling, data management and so on, in fact you be surprised exactly how many opportunities there are, and there is always running your business such as selling via auction websites such as eBay.
Where can I find work and opportunities?
WAHM.com – There is almost too much to talk about on this site, as they do not just cover jobs, but also there are sections that offer help and adivce on many related subjects.
Craigslist – This is great, the site covers the whole globe virtually and there are literally thousands of positions, but where there is a whole load of ads, there is going to be scams and one should be very careful when applying for positions that seen to good to be true.
TJobs - Used to great because it was free, but since they started charging, the amount of jobs has appeared to drop, but it only costs around $15 per year to join.
Career Builder – Almost any type of position is on here, both telecommute and work based.
Monster – Everyone knows monster, but again the positions are normally works based although there are some telecommute jobs on there you just have to look very closely.
Dice – The site for more technically minded, i.e. Web Design and Programmers.
GAF - A freelance site that covers almost all telecommuting work, only problem is that the money offered is very small, and might seem a bit like slave labor, but it is experience which counts, so you need to evaluate.
Guru - Mostly Telecommuting jobs, covers everything from writing to programming, you have to bid though, so the money may again be low, it is just a matter of weighing it up.
